After our hugely successful debut this year, our Gold-Rated South Downs and Arundel Winter Trails Event returns for 2024! We showcase the best of our beautiful English Countryside, with a stunning point to point route, traversing the South Downs Way and finishing in the fabulous town of Arundel. Coaches transport runners from Arundel to the start and can be added to your event entry at check-out!
The SDW and Arundel Winter Trails Event has been designed by trail runners for trail runners! And if you are not quite up to marathon distance after the Christmas break, we have included a 15 Mile option to ease you into the New Year.
Both distances are challenging but gorgeous, fully marked point to point off road courses, that start in the quiet village of Heyshott and then follow the South Downs Way to the historic town of Arundel and its spectacular castle.
15 mile runners will drop down off the SDW and run along the River Arun before hitting the finish line, in the shadow of the castle.
Marathon runners continue on the SDW and are treated to river runs, rolling fields and hills, there is even a hidden Gurkha Suspension bridge to navigate before you join the River Arun and head back towards the Castle and the finish.
Start Point – Heyshott Village Hall, Upper Cranmore, Heyshott, Midhurst, GU29 0DL
Finish Line – Arundel Lido, Queen St, Arundel BN18 9JG

Runners will be required to park cars in the Pay & Display carpark at the finish location in Arundel, where they will then be transported by coach to the start point in Heyshott.
There is no car parking at the start location but if you wish to be dropped off then this can be facilitated.
Coaches will leave at 7:15am and 7.45am (marathon) and 8:15am and 8:45am (15 mile)
Registration – Will be at Arundel Lido before your coaches depart or at Heyshott Village Hall, for those of you getting dropped off locally.

All runners will be required to carry 500ml of hydration with them. Most will have hydration vests but handheld soft flasks will be fine.
As weather is changeable, especially in winter, runners are advised to also wear (and carry) appropriate clothing for the conditions.
We also strongly advise to download the GPX of the route onto a wearable watch or mobile device. Although this is a marked course event, arrows have been known to be tampered with, so a good understanding of the route is advisable.
There will be a bag drop tent at the start line. All bags will then be transported to the finish location and will be ready for you to collect when you get there.
15 Mile – 4 Hours
